Candidates who want to participate in the CUET exam are required to fulfill the eligibility norm set by the governing authority NTA. CUET has been introduced for the very first time in India and most students are unaware of the CUET eligibility criteria for the exam. In this article, you ll read all the details related to CUET eligibility and the reservation norms.

CUET 2022 Eligibility – Key Points

  • The CUET exam does not have any age restriction. Candidates of any age can apply for the CUET exam.  Note: Some CUET universities have restrictions on the age of UG admission. So applicants need to check their eligibility criteria. 
  • Candidates who have passed the 12th class can appear in the CUET 2022 exam. 
  • Candidates must pass the class without failing in 2 or more subjects. Then only they can apply for the CUET exam.
  • Candidates are informed that they need to check the eligibility criteria of the university where they want to pursue their studies. Because it may be possible that some universities have different norms than CUET eligibility norms. 
  • CUET exam has the different eligibility criteria for different courses :

CUET Reservation 

CUET exam is established under the act and guidelines given by the Government of India. So CUTE exam and the CUET universities have to follow the reservation terms described by the Government of India. And the same is also applicable to the admission process after the CUET exam. Candidates who are eligible for CUET reservations are provided some relaxation in the percentage for the admission process.

*Central universities that have their own reservation policies do not have to follow CUET reservation policies. Apart from that, all the universities have to follow the reservation policies prescribed by the Govt of India.

Important points of CUET Reservation for GEN-  EWS 

  • Applicants who are eligible for GEN-EWS Reservation are required to upload the EWS Certificate at the time of filling out the CUET application form.
  • Certificates need to be issued under the latest norms of government authorities of India on or after Jan 01, 2022.
  • If candidates who don’t have the EWS certificate have to submit the declaration [Declaration instead of Gen-EWS Certificate at Annexure-IB] in place of the certificate.

Important points of CUET Reservation for OBC

  • · Applicants who are eligible for OBC Reservation are required to upload the OBC Certificate at the time of filling out the CUET application form.
  • Certificates need to be issued under the latest norms of government authorities of India on or after Jan 01, 2022.
  • Candidates who don’t have the OBC certificate have to submit the declaration [Declaration instead of OBC-NCL Certificate at Annexure-IIB] in place of the certificate.

Important points of CUET Reservation for SC/ST 

  •  Applicants who are eligible for SC/ST Reservation are required to upload the SC/ST Certificate at the time of filling out the CUET application form.
  • Certificates need to be issued under the latest norms of government authorities of India on or after Jan 01, 2022.

Important points of CUET Reservation for PwD 

  • Medical authorities approved Physical disability certificate (Unique Disability Identification (UDID) Certificate or Annexure-IV (Form-PwBD(II))/ Annexure-V (Form-PwBD(III))/ AnnexureVI (Form-PwBD(IV)), whichever is applicable have to be submitted by the candidates for Pwd reservation.
  • Dyslexic applicants are required to The Dyslexia candidates need to provide the Annexure-VII (Form-DYSLEXIC-1) and Annexure-VIII (Form-DYSLEXIC 2) instead of Annexure-IV (FormPwBD(II))/Annexure-V (Form-PwBD(III))/Annexure-VI (Form-PwBD(IV)).
  •  The certificate must mention ‘SEVERE’ under the Dyslexia category to enable the 21 INFORMATION BULLETIN: CUET (UG) – 2022 candidate to get the benefit of the PwBD category.
